Russian shell strike hits bus near Moldova border checkpoint, injuring border guard
Moldova’s Border Police reported that a bus was damaged near the “Palanka–Mayaki-Udobne” checkpoint on the border with Ukraine during a Russian attack; a border guard was injured.

According to the Moldovan Border Police, a shell landed near the “Palanka” checkpoint at 9:38 a.m. After hitting the ground, it ricocheted and struck a passenger bus near the barrier.
According to preliminary information, the bus and the control booth were damaged. A Border Police officer sustained minor injuries. There were no other casualties.
Operations at the “Palanka–Mayaki–Udobne” checkpoint have been suspended.
It is noted that the Moldovan Border Police, in cooperation with the Customs Service, is monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the relevant Ukrainian authorities.
Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, confirmed to Ukrinform that no border crossings are currently taking place at the “Palanka” checkpoint on Moldovan territory.
“Indeed, the ‘Palanka’ border crossing point, located on Moldovan territory, is currently not processing travelers,” he said.
Demchenko added that he would not comment on the situation that occurred at this border crossing point, “because that is the prerogative of the Moldovan side.”
