CBI conducts raid at Punjab CM Mann’s camp office, FIR filed against OSD
The CBI is now investigating allegations of corruption that ensnare Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's OSD and other officials. This development comes on the heels of a High Court directive citing possible misconduct in government actions. The Enforcement Directorate has pointed fingers at businessman Nitin Gohal, linking him to a 'cash-for-transfer' scheme.
CHANDIGARH: The CBI has registered an FIR into corruption allegations involving Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann's Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Rajbir Ghuman and other senior officials, news agency PTI reported. The FIR follows a Punjab and Haryana high court order directing a probe into alleged irregularities in transfers, postings, government policies and tenders. The high court had directed the CBI to register an FIR after noting that material shared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) prima facie disclosed cognisable offences. The court had also sought a report on the probe within two months. The CBI has now registered the FIR into the allegations involving Ghuman and other senior officers. Govt to challenge CBI probeThe Punjab government has said it will challenge the high court order directing the CBI probe in the Supreme Court. Chief minister Bhagwant Mann rejected the allegations and accused the BJP of using central agencies against political opponents. Reacting to the development, Mann said in a post on social media:“BJP has started preparations for the Punjab elections.
A CBI raid was conducted at my camp office. Now, the ED and CBI will be misused in Punjab to defame the Punjab government and me. The BJP is feeling nervous after seeing the love and support I am receiving from the people.”( With agency inputs)You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Chandigarh | Silver Rate in Chandigarh | Bank Holidays in Chandigarh | Public Holidays in Chandigarh | Chandigarh AQI | Weather in Chandigarh | Petrol Price in Chandigarh | Diesel Price in Chandigarh | CNG Price in Chandigarh | LPG Price in ChandigarhStay updated with the latest Chandigarh news.
