Special drive targets first-time voters and those missed in SIR, with district officials coordinating continuous updation across Tamil Nadu
The Election Commission will undertake a special drive across Tamil Nadu to enroll new voters and those left out during the SIR campaign, CEO Archana Patnaik has said.
The Chief Electoral Officer, who chaired a meeting in this regard with all district officials on Thursday following instructions from the Election Commission of India, said a special drive will be undertaken across all districts for the enrolment of left out and young/first time eligible electors.
"The Election Commission of India, in its communication dated September 29, 2026, has directed that in States/UTs where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has already been completed, a special drive shall be undertaken by the Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers and EROs for the enrolment of left out and young/first time eligible electors under the process of continuous updation," she said in a release here.
Declaration Form attached with Form 6 will be used during the SIR phase only. For the non-SIR period, the Forms applicable as per the Registration of Electors Rules 1960 will be used, Patnaik said.
