Opposition MPs Launch Flash Protest in Delhi Demanding Election Commissioner's Resignation

Tensions escalated in central Delhi as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with other opposition leaders launched an unscheduled flash protest against the Election Commission of India and the central government. Delhi Police, alongside the Rapid Action Force and Central Reserve Police Force personnel, stepped up security and barricaded roads leading towards Jantar Mantar and the Election Commission. Heavy police deployment was seen from Janpath towards Sagar Ratna as protesters attempted to inch forward in buses.

Key leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge and Derek O'Brien stated that authorities were preventing them from holding demonstrations, while asserting their resolve to remain on the streets regardless of detention. Opposition leaders and demonstrators carried the Indian national flag rather than party flags, framing the march as a unified effort to protect democratic processes.
