Mumbai: From Mumbai’s iconic Shivaji Park coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, the Cockroach Janata Party on Friday started the second edition of its mass campaign demanding the ouster of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the wake of an expose on alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process even as the movement’s founder Abhijeet Dipke launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The CJP announced that he would take the campaign nationwide with the next protests in Goa and Karnataka.

Slamming the BJP, Dipke said: “One Nation One Election is just a slogan…what BJP wants is One Nation One Party”.

“Go Gyanu Go’ rend the air as the Gen Z took to the streets — the second time in couple of month’s time after the successful New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar protests during which they extracted the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the wake of the NEET paper leak scandal.

The backdrop of the stage read - ‘Gaddar Gyanu Must Go: Save Democracy’ even as the Gen Z raised slogans like ‘Gyanu…its done bro” and ‘Gyanu Kaka, resign and go’.

Slamming Modi, Dipke said that he cannot surpass the stature of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

“Gandhi is the soul of India, Ambedkar is the backbone of India, Nehru is the mind of India,” Dipke said amid thunderous applause by thousands of people who joined the protests.

“The country will run on the principles of Gandhi and not Nathuram Godse…mahamanav, non-biological, vishwaguru…Narendra Modi you will not be able to become bigger than Gandhi, Ambedkar and Nehru,” Dipke said.

The campaign seeking the ouster of Gyanesh Kumar was launched coinciding with the Gandhi Jayanti festivities, with Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi in attendance.

The backdrop read - ‘Gaddar Gyanu Must Go: Save Democracy’ even as the Gen Z engaged in sloganeering like ‘Gyanu…its done bro'.

Continuing the attack, Dipke said: “He always wants people to stand in queue…during notebandi (demonetisation), Covid vaccines and now for names in the voters’ list…in 12 years he could have done many good things but he made people stand in queue.

“On the other hand, this person is just travelling around the world with our money. One thing is that he keeps saying, 'I have sold tea, I have sold tea, I have sold tea.' Why did you sell tea? Did we ask you to sell tea? We said you could have gone to school, studied, and gotten a job...and then, 'I am the son of a poor mother, I am the son of a poor mother...It is because of you that all the children today have become sons of poor mothers."

Among those who came to support Dipke include actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, music composer Vishal Dadlani, director Vishal Bhardwaj, comedian Rajeev Nigam.
