Zelenskyy announces 1st combat use of Ukraine's FP-7 missile
Zelenskyy says Ukraine moves toward mass production after first combat use of FP-7
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Thursday the first combat use of the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile.
He said Ukraine would move toward production.
“Ukrainian tactical ballistic missile. FP-7. First combat use. Thank you for the result. Next -- production,” he said in a statement on Telegram, with an accompanying video.
He provided no details about the operation or the target.
The FP-7 was developed by Ukrainian defense company Fire Point. The company said earlier this month that the missile completed two of three testing stages and could enter combat use within weeks.
Public reports have described the FP-7 as a ground-launched ballistic missile with a stated range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) and a maximum speed of about 1,500 meters (4,921 feet) per second.
