India on Thursday condemned attacks by Houthi rebels on two airports in Saudi Arabia over the past few days.

“India condemns the attacks over the past few days targeting Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

Stressing that “targeting of civilian infrastructure is completely unacceptable,” New Delhi expressed its “deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones.”

“We wish speedy recovery for those injured. We express solidarity and stand with the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the ministry said.

On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said three people were killed and 36 others injured in Houthi attacks on Abha and King Khalid international airports on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen subsequently said late Wednesday that it had destroyed 82 Houthi military targets across four provinces.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces in September 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
