4 killed in helicopter crash in Canada’s Quebec province
Authorities launch investigation into the incident
Four people were pronounced dead Saturday after a helicopter crashed and caught fire in Canada's Quebec province, according to authorities.
Quebec’s provincial police, known as the Surete du Quebec (SQ), said they received a report shortly after 2.30 pm local time (1630GMT) that a helicopter crashed near Rang des Ecossais off Highway 10 in the Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville area.
Emergency responders brought the fire under control, while all four occupants of the helicopter were pronounced dead at the scene, an SQ spokesperson told CityNews.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
The SQ’s Major Crimes Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, while the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is expected to send investigators to the scene.
