Bank of Ghana names Matilda Asante-Asiedu to represent it on GOLDBOD board

The Bank of Ghana has nominated its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu to represent the central bank on the board of the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD).

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday, September 28.

Her nomination follows the resignation of the Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, from the board.

Dr. Johnson Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, ceased to serve as a member of the GoldBod Board effective 11 May 2026.

Since that date, the Governor has not participated in any meetings or activities of the GoldBod Board.

In accordance with Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which provides for representation of the Bank of Ghana on the GoldBod Board by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director, the Bank has nominated its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, to serve as its representative on the Board.

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu has since assumed that role and represents the Bank on the GoldBod Board in fulfilment of the statutory requirement.

"The Bank of Ghana remains committed to the highest standards of governance, transparency and the avoidance of any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the discharge of its mandate," the statement said.
